Bee & Social Responsibility

Because we at Numata feel serious about South Africa’s future and our own, we have invested greatly in the social and economic areas of previously disadvantaged individuals. With these ongoing initiatives we emphasize our commitment to skills development and to empowering South Africa’s black economy. This commitment has earned us a BEE rating of Level 3.

Social Responsibility

South Africa is about UBUNTU, the principle that we are human beings through other people. That the total is more than the sum. Numata people know this, and practice this ethos of social responsibility. We at Numata know that any business leader has responsibilities in the larger society and community. South Africa will only become the country it can be if all businesses – like Numata – are dedicated to the practice of giving back to society.

Because we are privileged, we sponsor the FRIENDS OF THE POOR, an iniative of the Free State Government to improve the living conditions of many poor and destitute people.

Numata was involved with the care of baby Mamiki Matang. Mamiki was born on 23 September 1996 a serious physical disability known as Hydrocephalus. Within 13 weeks her head started to grow to big proportions. Her fragile body could not support this weight of her head and she could not actually move or sit up. Tragically, Mamiki has since passed away, but her brave battle contributed to an to an increased awareness of Hydrocephalus. We at Numata feel honoured to have been involved with Mamiki and her family.

Numata hosts an annual Numata Business Golf Day that aims to bring various business leaders and representatives together. Through this social networking event we emphasize our commitment to social development and responsibility to suffering communities. With the proceeds of this annual project, a different organisation yearly becomes a beneficiary. We help this organisation to get as much exposure as possible as well as the proceeds of the Golf Day.
